I beam for mining is a kind of section steel. It is mainly used in mine tunnels and metal stents for support, suitable for intensive support. It is I shaped and similar to I beam. It is often made to be door

shape in mines and its legs are usually under the condition of slant-

setting.

The difference between I steel for mining and I beam:

1. Type: there are only 9#,11#and 12# for I steel for mining, while

types of I beam are from 8—63#.

2. Material: 16-25MnK or Q275 for most mining I steel, and Q195-

235 and Q345B(generally these two) for I beam, i.e. the difference of

common steel and manganese steel.

3. Theoretical weight: For the same or similar specification, the

theoretical weight of mining I steel is more than that of I steel. For

example,the theoretical weight of 8# I steel is 7.52kg/m, 9# mining I

steel is 17.69kg/m, 12# I steel is 11.5kg/m, 12# mining I steel is

31.18kg/m. This is because mining I steel is for intensive support.

4. Place of production: Manufacturers of I beam are all over the

country, while mining I steel manufacturers are only in Tangshan,

Anshan, Wuhan, Harbin, Hangzhou, of which, the steel output from

Tangshan Hebei accounts for about one third of national total

output.
